Mission: Organization
One of the top 5 things people hope to accomplish with the start of a new year is to get organized. Maybe the car won’t fit in the garage anymore. Maybe your office is beginning to look like a paper recycling center. Maybe your closet is storing more history than fashion. All of these things and more can lead us to the decision that something has got to go!
Where to start?
Break up your selected task into smaller sections. Deal with 2 boxes in the garage every week. Address one stack of paper in the office and then be done. Grab the first 5 hangers you come to in your closet and make a decision on those. By limiting yourself, you assure that you have a job you can make decisions on and finish. One of the reasons that we tend to avoid organizing is because we feel like the job will never end. It is up to you to set a limit on your project and then congratulate your self on completing your goal!
What to do with all that stuff?
Don’t forget that sometimes things pile up because we don’t have time to make a decision about them. Take some time to really analyze what is going on in the area you are dealing with. You will be amazed at how much space you find by discovering and eliminating what you don’t need and want. Many local charities are pleased to provide a tax deductible receipt for your donations.
Why get organized, it will just go back to the
same
thing again?!
We store “stuff” in our garages and our $50,000 car on the street. We waste 17 days a year looking for lost paper. We only wear 20% of what is hanging in our closet. Think about protecting your investments, gaining another 17 days to your year, and finding 80% more storage space in your home. The benefits far outweigh the time it will take you to get on track. And once you discover the joys of being organized, no one will be able to convince you to go back to the messy, cluttered, stressful way you were living before.
Now that you have the basic stepping stones, let’s get organized!
